Chattooga County Navigator Team

  Who are the team leaders?

The team leader of the Chattooga County Navigator Team is Melissa Cummings.  She can be reached by phone at 706-857-3527 or by email at plcmcummings@windstream.net .

The State Coordinator of the Navigator Team Project is Marchia Williams.  Marchia may be reached at the Parent to Parent of Georgia office at 1-800-229-2038 or marchia@parenttoparentofga.org.

Which families are the Navigator Teams targeting?

Navigator teams are reaching out to all families of young children from birth-five and to families of school aged children with special needs.

The Chattooga County Navigator Team has the following mission:
To support Chattooga County individuals with disabilities and their families through a parent leadership network.
 
 The Chattooga County Navigator Team has the following vision:
 To develop a point of contact in Chattooga County so that parents of young children, parents of school-aged children, and parents/caretakers of adults with disabilities will not feel alone.
 
 The Chattooga County Navigator Team has the following goals:
 To develop an informed parent community in Chattooga County by increasing access to positive education, advocacy, and strategies; and more control over essential resources to meet the needs of those with disabilities and their families.

     Team Leader and Core Members would appreciate any input as we are a newly formed Navigator Team and want to serve the interests of parents/caretakers of children with special needs in Chattooga County. We are currently in discussion on when and how often to have meetings to best serve our members.  We plan for the meetings to be open to anyone willing to participate.  We welcome parents, guardians, or any relative or friend of a child or young adult with a disability as well as teachers, administrators, therapists, clergy, and just anyone who cares or is interested in helping those with disabilities and those that love them to feel valued and not alone.

 Parent Leadership Coalition Chattooga County Navigator Team Community Membership Kickoff
 August 23, 2008  10:00 AM to 12:00 PM @ Summerville Elementary School Cafeteria, Penn Drive, Summerville, Ga.  30747


 The activities consist of - Marchia Williams, PLC Statewide Coordinator will speak concerning the Navigator Team Project and how the PLC is working to establish a point of contact in every Georgia county so that no parent of a child with a disability ever feels alone.
 There will be various resource providers present with information and some will also have items to give away such as back to school supplies and care packages.
 There will be light refreshments served and there will be drawing for door prizes.
