Who We Are

Navigation to Connections for Improved Student Outcomes (N2C) is Georgia’s Parent Training Information Center (PTIC).   

• federally funded program through the United States Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP)
• authorized in Part D of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). 

PTIs are created to provide parents of children with disabilities with the training and information they need to enable them to participate effectively in helping their children with disabilities to –

• Meet developmental and functional goals, and challenging academic achievement goals that have been established for all children; and  
• Be prepared to lead productive, independent adult lives, to the maximum extent possible. 

PTIs ensure that children with disabilities and their parents receive training and information on their rights, responsibilities, and protections under IDEA in order to develop the skills necessary to cooperatively and effectively participate in planning and decision making related to early intervention, educational and transitional services.  

N2C is a program of Parent to Parent of Georgia (P2P)

To significantly improve the ability of Georgia families to access education, advocacy and community supports so they will learn and implement strategies to control essential resources that meet their child’s needs.

N2C Education Tips - Did You Know?

Response to Intervention (RTI) is included in federal law.  

RTI refers to a tiered approach to instruction. Students who do not make adequate academic progress and who are at risk for reading and other learning disabilities receive increasingly intensive instructional services.   The goal of RTI is to provide the type of instruction and education that each child needs to be successful in the general education classroom.  

The first level includes school-wide screenings and progress monitoring focused on the achievement of all students in the school.  

At the second level the classroom teacher or other specialist provides additional instruction in a child’s area of weakness.  

Students who fail to respond to this instruction may then receive specialized instruction at a greater frequency or duration at Level 3.  If difficulties persist for the student, a comprehensive evaluation may then be appropriate.
