Deeming Waiver: A
Medicaid waiver program for children with significant disabilities. This

in families having income that is too high to qualify for Supplemental
Security Income (SSI). The Deeming Waiver Medicaid can be used as either
primary insurance or as secondary insurance when a child is covered
under a private insurance plan.

| Medicaid Recipients who are Eligible
for Private Insurance |
HIPP (Health Insurance
Premium Payment): A program where the Department of Medical
Assistance (DMA) pays for the cost of your private health insurance
premiums. It is available to Medicaid eligible recipients (Medicaid,
Medicaid with SSI or Deeming Waiver) if the DMA determines it is more
“cost-effective” to pay for private insurance instead of having Medicaid
pay all the bills. It can benefit the entire family if a family
insurance plan is found to be more cost-effective.
