Books

There are many books that are helpful for parents raising a child with special needs.  Books can be found at your public library, local bookstores, or on various publishers web sites.  Many local bookstores now have Special Needs sections with hundreds of titles.

Here are a few examples of book titles and special needs publishers:

  • Brookes Publishing Company - Guidebooks, texts, videos and tools on disabilities, education, and child development.

  • Woodbine House - Publishers of books for and about those with special needs.

  • Living with a Brother or Sister with Special Needs by Donald J. Meyer, Patricia F. Vadasy, and Rebecca R. Fewell

  • When Bad Things Happen to Good People by H. Kushner

  • Home Care for the Chronically Ill or Disabled Child by Monica Loose Hones

  • Parents Speak Out (Then & Now) by H.R. Turnbull & Ann P. Turnbull
