Navigating Services

Navigating the world of disability services can be very complex and confusing. The Roadmap outlines the governmental, medical, educational, social, and therapeutic services available to families in Georgia. The Roadmap provides very basic information in an available, family friendly format to help families find the service they need to meet their family’s needs.

  • Major Agencies in Georgia

  • Navigator Teams
Local teams are a project of the Parent Leadership Coalition. Their common goal is to strengthen Georgia families, especially those with children with disabilities, and develop a point of contact in every Georgia County so that parents of young children and parents of school-aged youth will not feel alone.

  • Medical
Finding answers to medical questions is sometimes difficult and
often very time-consuming. Assistance can be important in finding
the right answers as timely as possible

  • Education
Educational questions are often perplexing and emotion-laden. Assistance in finding answers to education questions is helpful.

  • Transition
Information on transition from early intervention to school programs, transition among various school levels, and moving on to adult options.

  • Legal
The answers to legal questions can be difficult and expensive.
Some assistance in getting started is often helpful.

  • Questions to ask
