Military Families

The brave men and women who defend our nation face challenges and sacrifices the rest of society never dreams of. The support needs are often unique for their situation.

A listserv is a communication tool that offers its members the opportunity to post comments or questions to a large number of people at one time. When you submit a question or something that you want to share to the listserv, your submission is distributed to all of the other people on that list via email. East listserv targets pre-determined topics and discussions. Here are some Yahoo Group listservs focusing on military families with special needs kids:

  Discussion of the different issues that face all military families who have members in their family who are part of the Exceptional Family Member Program. Talk about the Red Tape and the hardships that being a part of the military medical system can bring.

  For military families that are dealing with Autism, PDD-NOS or Hyperlexia. This is a place to support and help one another living all over the world. Dealing with day to day life, Tricare (PFPWD )Schools and IEP's and moving to different location every few years.

  A list for military families with special needs children dealing with problems from EFMP to insurance and everyday problems. Help everyone cope with both military life and parenting a disabled child.

• http://groups.yahoo.com/group/specialneedsfamily/
  Looking for active duty and retired military special needs families.In order to have our needs met we must be a collective voice.

• http://groups.yahoo.com/group/navyfamilieswithspecialneeds/
  Group for special needs families. Open to all military branches, not just the navy. For military families who might need a bit of extra support. A new group recently started by a Dad.
